Combining the electronic beats of house music including deep, almost synthy percussion which gradually layers this track, with samples taken straight from Indian music, ‘Indian Kiss’ creates a type of sound the genre rarely approaches. The huge ritardando that takes the tempo to a hypnotically slow pace is an even more interesting, allowing new synth lines and samples to build us back up. Alkalino himself is a Munich-based Portuguese DJ whose career began in the 80s, before picking up speed recently to see him tour a huge amount of Europe, release multiple albums/EPs, and have his music supported by the likes of Arthur Baker and Adam Port. -Dan Peeke
